Let's get creative

MIMESIS. Branding and packaging strategy for a perfume based on a chameleon concept

Two friends, stylist and makeup artist from Nars & Glossier, got together to create a new feminine perfume and a new gift set line containing this one, a solid perfum, and a solid soap. The idea is to have a perfume with 100% natural ingredients that has the capability to fuse with the body to create a unique perfume for each individual.
Coming from the idea of a chameleon, we get the word that will name the brand, MIMESIS. An animal or plant imitating colours, textures, the appearance of other animals, objects or even their surroundings as a method of camouflage or adaptation to the environment.
The inspiration for this project comes from nature where the bottle shape is like a water drop on top of a leaf. The camouflage is represented with the fusion that we get when we mimetise. That fusion is shown using a thermosensitive ink with a matt finish around the bottle. This way when you touch the bottle, the heat of your hand will be “printed in” showing the name of the perfume.
